Happy Family Day! This has been a week to remember with temperatures from -25 degrees to +4. A mini blizzard on Wednesday that sent kids home from school and snowball fights on Main Street Stettler Tuesday. Power outages from 9:30 a.m. til noon on Monday with a cold south wind. We’ve had it all.

Stan and Gloria Diegel enjoyed a weekend at the Camrose Resort Casino with a supper buffet, a Buddy Holly impersonator and next morning breakfast buffet. So much fun they’ve booked again for March. A great way to beat the winter blues.

Frank and Eleanor Dahlgren had afternoon visitors when Eleanor’s nephew Carl Johnston and his wife Sabrina came, along with their daughter Victoria who is in college in Red Deer and also playing professional hockey there. Carl and Sabrina are from Prince George, BC.

February 7 Frank and Eleanor took the Hronek family out for supper at the Tasty Wok in Stettler to celebrate Tammy’s birthday.

On Saturday, February 17 Frank and Eleanor joined Tammy to cheer on Kayla and Luke Hronek as they played hockey (different teams) at the Stettler rinks. Joining them there was grandma Elva from Innisfail, Alberta.

The Bigknife 4-H Beef Club are having their annual bottle drive. For pickup please phone Denise at 403-740-5566 or Corina at 403-574-2183. All donations of bottles greatly appreciated.

Paulette and Jeanne Beisel met for lunch at the Club Cafe on Tuesday. Joining them were Doug and Shirley McKay. Doug has received word of the passing of his cousin Dale Pearn at the age of 74. Funeral services in Stettler Friday, February 16. Dale is the son of Jack and Grace (McKay) Pearn. Sympathies to the Pearn and McKay families.

And our hearts go out to the Cassidy families on the passing of Stella Cassidy. To her husband Al, sons Blair (Linda), Bryan (Renee), Doug (Wendy) all of Calgary. Also brother Fred (Pat) Holowarth, Trochu, sister Rose (John) Grant, Stettler as well as Charlie and Aleta Cassidy and families of Westwood’s, Frank and Carlene Cassidy, Stettler and Bill Cassidy.
