Here is a summary of most calls for service by Stettler RCMP over a one week period from Sept. 28 to Oct. 2. Calls that have SUI attached are Still Under Investigation.

Wednesday, Sept. 28
9 a.m. — Investigation regarding a complaint of a business trying to fraudulently obtain money via a fictitious newspaper ad. The matter was referred to Phone Busters, as the attempt of fraud was made by phone.
4:25 p.m. — 911 call received of a motor-vehicle collision on Township Road 39-4. A four-wheel drive tractor towing a cultivator failed to stop at a stop sign, causing an oncoming automobile driver to head for the ditch. The driver of the Pontiac Grand-Am was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and the operator of the tractor was charged with failing to obey a traffic control device.
6:57 p.m. — Members responded to a 911 hangup in the area of Range Road 17-5. The call was consistent with a cellphone pocket dial. The phone owner was not located.
Thursday, Sept. 29
10:49 a.m. — Members responded to a report of an assault on 50th Avenue, Stettler. The dispute was over a new bicycle. The matter was resolved upon police arrival and the complainant did not want any charges laid.
2:44 p.m. — Complaint received of ongoing speeding vehicles on 46 Street in Stettler. The matter is SUI, as a traffic enforcement initiative will be forthcoming.
4:21 p.m. — Members received request for information regarding defamation of character. Original complaint of criminal harassment was unfounded.
5:26 p.m. — Complaint received of an insecure load on a gravel truck on Highway 56. The complainant’s pickup was severely damaged when rocks the size of oranges struck the grill, radiator and windshield. The licence plate from the gravel truck was not obtained. SUI.
5:45 p. m. —Complaint of an erratic driver on Highway 12 and Erskine. The older model Buick operator was reported as not maintaining the driving lane and altering his highway speed. The registered owner was contacted, advised of the complaint and not charged.
5:47 p.m. — Members responded to a suicidal female on 49th Street, Stettler. The subject of the complaint was escorted to the hospital for a mental health assessment.
11 p.m. — Received a report of a big ball on the road near Wal-Mart on Highway 12. The ball the size of a car was on the move as a result of windy conditions. It was returned to the Stettler GM dealership.
Friday, Sept. 30
12:08 a. m. — Commercial false alarm on 50th Avenue, Stettler.
12:30 p.m. — Complaint of a vehicle pulling out from the curb on 51st Street without the driver checking for approaching traffic. A collision was avoided but the approaching vehicle had to brake heavily, which resulted in a can of paint spilling inside the vehicle. The proper licence plate of the offending vehicle was not obtained.
1:29 p.m. — 911 complaint reporting a two vehicle collision on 50th Street as a result of an automobile backing out of a parking stall. There were no injuries.
3:24 p.m. — Report of a vehicle eastbound on Highway 12 and Erskine pulling over onto the shoulder nearly causing a collision. The driver of the compact car reported that she was being tailgated and chose to pull over. No charges.
4:10 p.m. — Report of a collision with a deer on Highway 56 near Big Valley.
5:48 p.m. — Report of a wallet found on Highway 12 east. The wallet was returned to the owner.
7:02 p.m. — Report of four intoxicated males playing hockey inside the Canadian Tire store and disturbing other customers. Suspects were located and returned to their hotel room. Warning issued.
10 p.m. — Report of a Black Grand-Prix driving erratic on the highway. The complainant refused to have further involvement.
11:36 p.m. — Complaint of four teenage males walking on 58 Street and opening a tailgate to a pickup truck. Males were located and were issued a warning.
Saturday, Oct. 1
12:28 a.m. — Complaint of a family dispute at a residence on 68th Street. Members attended and there were no arrests or charges laid.
1:23 a.m. — Members responded to a complaint of a house party on 54 Street and there was also underage drinking. Occupants were ordered to depart the residence and the homeowner, who was away, was contacted.
2:21 a.m. — A 911 call was received about an abandoned minivan on Range Road 20-1. The vehicle was not located.
4:59 a.m. — 911 report of three males fighting in the alley near Fas Gas, Stettler. Members attended and the subjects of the complaint were not located.
7:53 a.m. — 911 call of a missing purse from a residence on 68 Street. Members attended and discovered that the married couple was going through a separation. No charges.
10:09 a.m. — Report of six to 10 bulls in the ditch on Highway 12 near Erskine. RCMP member responded and the cattle were attended by the owners.
2:18 p.m. — Residential false alarm.
7:34 p.m. — Report of mischief on Spruce Crescent. It was believed that someone had cut the screen on the bathroom window and threw a bunch of crickets inside.
11:20 p.m. — Report of an ongoing party at an apartment on 61 Street. There was no noise at the time of police arrival. The building manager was contacted.
Sunday, Oct. 2
2:41 p.m. — Report of an impaired driver in a white-coloured Dodge Dakota, near Wal-Mart in Stettler. There was also a further report of a drug transaction with another vehicle. Both vehicles departed the area prior to police arrival.
