Bashaw celebrates Hometown Days

Hometown Days returned Aug. 23-24

The end of August saw the return of Bashaw's Hometown Days.

Events were different than in years past, with no overall committee in charge; instead, individuals looked after separate aspects of the overall couple of days.

Festivities started at 4. pm. on Aug. 23 with Bashaw Chamber of Commerce Barbeque and farmer's market in the green space beside the Bakedery.

At 5 p.m. the Bashaw Youth Centre started some dance fun for children, and at 6 p.m. the "Throttle Up" Band performed in the green space into the evening.

The next day was another day full of activities, beginning with a pancake breakfast at the Bashaw Fire Hall.

In between adults and children, nearly 300 partook in the breakfast which ran from 8-10:30 a.m.

Over at the tennis courts, a pickleball tournament got underway at 9:30 a.m., and at 11 a.m. was the always-popular Hometown Days parade.

Following the parade, a variety of restaurants, businesses, and other organizations hosted barbecues and meals along Main Street for attendees to partake in.

At 1 p.m., the Main Street Family Fun Zone kicked off and provided a variety of activities for children and their parents including glitter tattoos and face painting. The Majestic Theatre hosted a flea market and the Bashaw RCMP hosted a "Stuff the Cruiser" event on Main Street, collecting gifts for teens and kids, school supplies and other items.

Over at the Bashaw Happy Gang Centre, the volunteers there were providing coffee and pie throughout the afternoon.

Back at the green space, Throttle Up was back providing live entertainment through the afternoon.

That evening, a dance was held featuring up-and-coming country artist Travis Dolter.
