Despite it not being officially announced by Alberta Health Services (AHS), there was a New Year’s baby delivered at Stettler Hospital.

William Lloyd Brewster was born just after 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 5, 2022, to proud parents Kasie and Kirk Brewster of Delburne, Alta.

Not only the first baby of the year born at Stettler Hospital, William is also the first baby of the couple.

He weighed in at seven pounds and five ounces.

For Kasie, it was special being able to share the experience with her work family; she works as a registered nurse at the Stettler Hospital.

“Things were amazing there,” said Kasie.

“It was nice being surrounded by my work family during our first baby. It was nice being surrounds by people I know and trust.”

As for life settling in with the new baby?

“He’s super content,” said Kasie.

“He eats and he sleeps.”

Congratulations to the Brewsters on the new addition to their family.

AHS announced at the end of December that they would not be announcing New Year’s babies again in 2022 due to COVID-19 considerations, though they hope to resume the practise in 2023.
