The Alberta RCMP have issued road advisories for large portions of the province.

Travel is not currently recommended on some highways in north, central and eastern Alberta, according to the release.

“Expect icy, blizzard conditions with lower visibility on roadways throughout the Edmonton area, and on Highway 2 from Ponoka north to St. Albert,” stated the release.

A number of traffic collisions have been reported throughout the region.

The inclement weather reaches as far east as Hanna, which has reported white-out conditions.

“RCMP advise if travel is absolutely necessary, motorists should use extreme caution and check 511 Alberta regularly for the most up-to-date information on highway conditions,” stated the release.
