The Alberta Health Services breast cancer screening trailer will be making a stop in Stettler in February.

The mobile mammography will be set up at the Stettler Hospital from Feb. 2 to 5, and 7 to 11, 2022.

“A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast and has proven to be the most effective way to detect breast cancer,” stated the release.

“Early detection allows for a greater number of options for treatment and a better chance of survival.”

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the mobile mammography program is taking “a number of precautions to ensure the safety of clients and staff,” and more details will be provided when the appointment is booked.

The mobile screening program, known by its official name “Screen Test,” has operated in Alberta for 30 years.

Women aged 50 to 74, the group most at risk of developing breast cancer accroding to the release, can book an appointment or get more information by calling 1-800-687-0604.
