Stettler U16 team, coached by Sarah Tucker, Shauna Elines, Sarah McCrindle and Bob Couch, are the “Come Back Queens” winning gold in the “C” division provincials in Calahoo July 14-15.
They went 4-0 in round robin playing teams from Sherwood Park, Brad Saville (Legal), Olds and St Paul. They ended up first in their pool.
They played a semi-final game against Calgary SBR where they had to come back from a 9-5 deficit to tie the game in the seventh inning forcing the game to extra innings where they scored the winning run taking them to the gold medal game.
They played Castor in the gold medal game where again they found themselves in another 9-6 deficit. They had a great rally in the bottom of the sixth inning to score four runs to take the lead.
Three quick outs in the bottom of the seventh and they were gold medal winners. They will forever be known as the “Come Back Queens.”
