Recognizing the importance of rural health care, the Town of Stettler and Stettler County have jointly proclaimed Rural Healthcare Week.

Rural Health Week is celebrated in Alberta during the last week of May every year; this year the week is celebrated from May 26-30.

"Rural health providers are powerful assets in their communities," reads the proclamation. "Not only do their health-care skills and practices enhance their community's quality of life, but these professionals also contribute to rural life on a more personal level."

Mayor Sean Nolls signed the proclamation on behalf of the town, and Deputy Reeve James Nibourg signed on behalf of Stettler County in a small ceremony on May 16.

Also in attendance were the Stettler Hospital Rural Acute Care Manager, Janet Chaney, and several members of Stettler and District Ambulance Association.
