A new fundraising initiative in Stettler took flight on May 10 in support of STARS.

Around 50 people came out for the fundraising auction at the Stettler Community Hall, raising money for the air ambulance service.

According to Douglas, he has been wanting to start an event like this for quite a while and the opportunity finally presented itself.

"I've been such a supporter of STARS," said Douglas, noting that he's had a friend's life saved by the organization.

Around $7,000 was raised for the first-ever event, and the hope is to turn it into an annual fundraiser.
