There could be changes afoot for the Village of Donalda.

In a letter dated Feb. 7 which was posted to X (formerly Twitter), village chief administrative officer Kristie Vallet acknowledged receipt of a Notice of Recall Petition against Mayor Douglas Booker.

According to the letter, the notice of recall petition has been “reviewed and deemed compliant.”

With the compliant notice, the petitioner now has 60 days to gather signatures from 40 per cent, or more, of the municipality’s population.

The letter notes that “only individuals eligible to vote for the elected official named in the notice of recall petition” can sign it.

Vallet concludes, noting that based on a village population of 219 people, 88 signatures will be required to be deemed sufficient.

The petition period will expire on April 6, 2024.
