The Junior Rodeo Series was back in the Stettler Agriplex at the beginning of February.
Beginning in November, the series ran for three dates where the youth participants could earn points before the finals which are coming up on Feb. 24.
The series includes youth rodeo competitions in three categories: nine and under, 10 to 13, and 14 to 19 years old.
Events in the series include pole-bending, goat-tying, barrel racing, calf-roping, team-roping, and family team-roping.
For the nine and under bracket, Payton Becker led the way heading into the Feb. 3 barrels event with 19 points.
Kayla Boxma led the way in nine and under poles, with 18 points; she also led the way in girls goats with 19 points.
Brant Elder, the sole entrant in under nine boys goats, had 20 points.
In breakaway roping, Noahfield led the way with 10 points.
Finally, Becker led the way in the all-around with 55 points, though Kayla Boxma was hot on her heels with 54 points.
In the 10-13 bracket, Molly Becker led the way in the barrels with 18 points.
In poles, Rayelle Rose was in the top spot with 18 points.
In girls’ goats, Erin Edge and Chesney Andersen were tied for first with 18 points each.
For breakaway roping, Edge was in the top spot with 16 points.
Hayes Udal sat in the top spot for team roping with 19 points.
Andersen sat in the top spot in the all-around category as well, with 46.5 points.
In the 14-19 bracket, Mattie Jensen led the leaderboard in barrels with 18 points.
Kayla Hronek sat atop the leaderboard in poles with 19 points.
In breakaway, Denim Ross sat atop the leaderboard with 10 points.
Janae McDougall led the way in team roping, with 22 points, though Whip Gertner was just one point behind. McDougall also led the way in the all-around, with 50 points.
The Winter Junior Rodeo Series Finals is set for Feb. 24, at the Stettler Agriplex.
