East Central Community Choir brings the Easter story to Castor

The choir performed several shows throughout the region

The East Central Community Choir was back in action for its spring concert series in early April.

Performing at three venues over two days in Coronation, Alliance, and Castor, the 22-member choir performed for around an hour at each show.

The first of the shows took place at the Coronation United Church on April 5 at 7 p.m. The following day, they took to the stage in Alliance at the United Church at 2:30 p.m. The third show in the series took place at the Castor Evangelical Missionary Church at 7:30 p.m.

For those who missed the first three shows, there was one more opportunity to catch the choir; the group performed at Castor's Paintearth Lodge on April 8.

To finish the season, the East Central Community Choir travelled to the Sedgewick Seventh Day Adventist Church on April 13 to participate in the mass choir, which was conducted by East Central Community Choir conductor Steve Penner. Other choirs involved in the Sedgewick performance include the Walter Jahns Singers, the Quartet of Seven, and the Sedgewick United Church Choir.

As usual, Betty Spady was back accompanying the choir on piano and Roger Spady provided narration for the majority of the shows. Roger fell ill for the Castor Evangelical Missionary Church performance and Larry Weber stepped in for him.

In addition to the vocal performances, choir members Marty Hays and Linda Windross each accompanied the choir for a song on wind instruments. Hays played trumpet and Windross played flute, each performing one song alongside the choir.

For the performances, the choir performed 11 songs detailing the Easter Story with Roger or Weber narrating in between.

Each performance concluded with a time of fellowship.
