The Coronation Hospital and Care Centre continues to face physician shortages.
In an update on May 1, Alberta Health Services issued a release noting that the emergency department at the facility will continue to remain closed from 8 a.m. on Thursdays to 8 a.m. on Fridays and from noon on Fridays until 8 a.m. on Saturdays.
Additionally, due to a lack of coverage, the emergency department will also be closed for three Fridays in May. The department will be closed May 2, May 16, and May 30.
The release notes that AHS is continuing recruitment efforts for the facility.
While the facility is closed, nursing staff will remain on hand to perform triage and first aid for anyone who presents at the site.
Those presenting to the site will either be referred to neighbouring facilities in Castor, Hanna, Stettler, or transported via EMS if necessary.
No other services at the facility will be impacted during the emergency department closures.
