Canada Day festivities held in Donalda

There was a full day of activities planned

The Village of Donalda celebrated Canada's 158th birthday in fine fashion on July 1.

A pancake breakfast started festivities off at Sharon Free Church from 10 a.m. until noon.

Following breakfast, the Donalda Drop-in Centre hosted a "pie-and-coffee" event from noon until 4 p.m. For $5, people could get a slice of pie and a cup of coffee or juice, and the pies were varied!

Down at the lamp, Stettler Regional Fire Department had a display set up where the general public could try knocking down flames with a fire hose, and there was also a tractor show going on as well!

Elsewhere in the park, a vendor market was set up, which started at noon.

For those needing food, a variety of food locations were set up in the community, including a barbecue hosted by the Donalda museum.

As usual, the Donalda Ag. Society hosted it's annual Canada Day parade, led off this year by Conservative Party of Canada Leader Pierre Poilievre, who is running as a Candidate in the upcoming Battle River-Crowfoot byelection now that incumbent MP Damien Kurek has officially resigned.

Live music, provided by The Desparados, kicked off in the park at 5:30 p.m., with a live auction beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Later in the evening, there was karaoke at the Donalda Tavern, and the evening was capped off with fireworks.
