Battle River School Division (BRSD) has approved its 2025-26 budget.
The budget, approved during the May 8, 2025 Board of Trustees meeting, will see a slight increase in allocation to around $70.7 million, up from $70.1 million in the 2024-25 school year.
"The budget includes temporary stabilization funding from Alberta Education in the amount of $1,482,526," notes the release announcing the budget. "This funding was introduced to help school divisions transition to the current funding model. Stabilization funding is being phased out over the next two years and will be eliminated by September 2027."
Included in the 2025-26 budget is the use of $1.9 million worth of divisional reserve funding to "help support and maintain staffing as much as possible."
Around 86 per cent of the instruction budget, nearly 72 per cent of the total budget, is being allocated directly to the schools within the division.
The remaining budget will go to facilities, 14 per cent, transportation, 7.5 per cent, administration, 3.6 per cent, and external programs, 2.7 per cent.
In determining the budget, the board used its vision of "Every Student, Every Day, a Success" to establish its core priorities.
