Elation at the defeat of dissolution

It is with extreme elation, excitement and relief that I am able to write this letter to you with regards to the dissolution study and subsequent dissolution vote to maintain the Village of Donalda as an incorporated municipality and to continue to proceed in the future as a “village” in the Province of Alberta.

Dear editor,

Re: Village of Donalda dissolution study

It is with extreme elation, excitement and relief that I am able to write this letter to you with regards to the dissolution study and subsequent dissolution vote to maintain the Village of Donalda as an incorporated municipality and to continue to proceed in the future as a “village” in the Province of Alberta.

With the results of the dissolution vote completed on the 30th of March, 2010 made known to Alberta Municipal Affairs, the residents of The Village of Donalda, the County of Stettler and all others concerned.

It is very apparent that a resounding 75 percent of eligible voters that participated cast their votes NOT to have the Village of Donalda dissolved into a hamlet in the County of Stettler, and want to continue as an incorporated municipality as “the Village of Donalda.”

I sincerely hope that Alberta Municipal Affairs Minister Hon. Hector Goudreau will take the results of this vote and comments from all of the concerned residents who attended the public meeting with serious consideration in this matter when he makes his decision, as it is of great importance and concern to the people who live happily in our village.

I also hope that this will serve as a warning to people to be very, very careful when it comes to placing your signature on any petition in the future: you may get, or lose, way more than you ask for! That is why we have elections.
