Don’t hesitate to call the ambulance

Dear Editor,

Stettler District Ambulance is very proud in providing a high quality ambulance service to our community.

Contrary to an article printed in the Stettler Independent on April 21, 2010, we provide a timely response to all emergency calls. The call in question did not warrant a two-hour response to Rochon Sands. Our crew were out of the chute within two minutes and arrived on scene in 32 minutes. This is a more than acceptable time frame for the type of response designated by Red Deer dispatch for the call in question.

Stettler District Ambulance would like to reinforce the importance of calling an ambulance if required. Our timely response can and will make a difference in patient care.

Never hesitate to call an ambulance if needed, as our highly trained staff can start immediate treatment if required prior to arriving at any hospital.

We would like to remind the community that EMS Awareness Week takes place May 16 to 22 this year, with Wednesday, May 19 set aside as Emergency Medical Services for Children’s Day. This year’s theme is EMS: Anytime. Anywhere. We’ll Be There.

EMS Week is about celebrating accomplishments by honouring the EMS profession and recognizing the importance of EMS by raising overall public understanding and awareness of how EMS serves the community,

I want to personally thank all the Stettler District Ambulance Paramedics, EMT-As and EMRs for their dedicated commitment to providing safe, quality and timely patient care in Stettler.

Linda Borg,

Manager

Stettler District Ambulance

Editor’s note:

We regret the said error in last week’s story headlined “Stettler honours lifesaving effort”.
