A JUNO award-winning musician is making their way to Stettler on Sept. 22.

Winnipeg-based musician Steve Bell, whose multi-decade career spans back to the 1980s, will be performing from 7-9 p.m. at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Stettler for a solo show.

During his show, Bell will be performing some of his old favourites as well as some music off his upcoming 23rd studio album including the recently released single "Lovers in a Dangerous Time," a fresh take on the Bruce Cockburn classic.

“The song continues to astonish me,” said Bell, in a recent media release. “No matter what season or decade you hear it in, it always sounds like it could have been written yesterday for this particular moment. I suppose that’s the mark of a truly great song.”

Bell's release of the single is in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of the single's original release by Cockburn.

“It’s a beauty version. I love it!" says Cockburn's manager, regarding the new single.

Bell began his career singing with the Winnipeg-based group Elias, Schritt & Bell in the early 1908s and has been performing solo since the end of that decade selling over 400,000 CDs.

In addition to his three JUNO wins, Bell has also earned three other JUNO nominations and won four Western Canadian Music Awards, and "numerous Gospel Music Association and Prairie Music awards."

Bell's non-musical advocacy work for organizations such as World Vision and the Canadian Foodgrains Bank have also earned him numerous other honours including the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 and the Order of Canada in 2022.

Tickets for the Stettler show can be purchased either through St. Peter Lutheran Church or online at stevebell.com/event/stettler-ab-solo-concert.
