Stettler students have fun with humour

Christ-King Catholic School holds variety show

Did someone miss the memo?

“After seeing all the other performers perform, how can you even think what you guys did was talent?” asked Madison, a Christ-King Catholic School (CKCS) student to a packed gymnasium of students, teachers and parents during the school’s variety showcase May 17.

It was supposed to be a talent show, she said.

“A show to show off your talents.”

Students performed a variety of comedy, using laughable props, scripted dialogue, irony and word play. Kaydon tried to build a house of cards. Shelby and Paige used a blanket to toss an invisible Eddy into the air. Darius played a piano only for the audience to discover at the end he wasn’t actually playing. Autumn gave a dramatic reading of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Joel ate a lemon. Jesse and Lance did a ventriloquism act without a dummy. Josh showed he could stay quiet and Brody wrestled a plastic crocodile.

Even the teachers got in on the fun as the Laughing Grannies, dressing up showing students what the teachers would look like as seniors living in a retirement home.

“A talent show, that’s what this was?” asked Jesse at the end.

“Who cares,” said Carlos. “We all had fun.”
