Bashaw's Majestic Theatre is throwing back to the 1940s in February when a Frank Sinatra tribute comes to town.

Brantford Ontario's Dan Lauzon is bringing his "Living Sinatra" tribute to the Majestic Theatre for a one-night performance.

According to publicist Merv Buchanan, Lauzon's Sinatra tribute "has become more successful than he ever dreamed."

"It has given him an opportunity to sing with some of the world's greatest orchestras, with popular jazz trios and as a solo artist in lounges and supper clubs, on television and on tours throughout the Americas and overseas," said Buchanan, in a media release announcing the show. "But his biggest thrill as a tribute artist came in 2018 when he won first prize in a once-in-a-lifetime international Frank Sinatra tribute artists competition in Sinatra's home town Hoboken, New Jersey. For a tribute artist, it just doesn't get any better!"

Sinatra first hit the stage in the 1940s, first with the Harry James Orchestra. In 1946, he decided to go solo and over five decades he sold more than 150 million records "becoming one of the most successful entertainers of his generation."

During the 1950s, as Las Vegas became the place to go for gambling and entertainment, its casinos needed entertainers who would appeal to the adult audiences.

"Frank Sinatra fit the bill perfectly and soon became a top attraction. He and his pals Dean Martin, Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford and Sammy Davis Jr, soon became known as “the rat pack” often making hilarious surprise appearances at each other's shows, to the delight of audiences," notes the release.

During his recording career, Sinatra won 11 Grammy Awards and even created his own record label.

And Sinatra's musical styling, courtesy of Lauzon, will be coming to Bashaw on Feb. 15, 2024.

Tickets are available by contacting Val Wandler at 403-358-8575 or Shelley Boileu at 403-588-9958.
