The fourth show in the 2024-25 Coronation Performing Arts entertainment season is just around the corner.

Performing on Feb. 15 in a Valentine's show will be B.C. performers Nico Rhodes and Patrick Courtin, bringing their travelling act Piano Heist to the Coronation Community Hall.

The stop is one of 15 dates in Alberta and part of a larger six-week tour which has seen them performing on both sides of the international border with the United States.

Described as a one-part virtuoso classical concert and one-part vaudeville absurdity, the duo says that they are sure they will leave the audience smiling.

"It's full of recognizable music we put our own twist on," said Rhodes. "It's a family-friendly show with something for everyone."

While Rhodes and Courtin have only been touring Piano Heist for the last two-and-a-half years, their friendship goes way back: the two became best friends in Kindergarten.

"That's a bit of shtick in the show," said Rhodes.

"People should come to the show ... people deserve to have a good time, to be surprised, to be entertained, and to have an experience they are going to remember. It's pure musical fun."

According to the duo, the show alternates between collaborative piano pieces and duelling pianos.

"Expect the unexpected," said Rhodes. "If you like music, you're going to like the show."

Courtin agreed with his travelling partner.

"The joy is contagious," said Courtin.

According to Courtin, some artists take the music seriously, and artists who take themselves seriously.

"We take the music seriously, we don't take ourselves seriously at all," said Courtin, with a laugh.

Tickets for Piano Heist are still available by contacting L and C Bookkeeping at 403-578-3838 or online at coronationperformingarts.com
