What happens when you take a production that is one part drama, one part comedy, and one part musical? You end up with Heartland Arts Troupe Society’s (HATS) latest offering, The Hallelujah Girls.
The Hallelujah Girls is written by American authors Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten.
Set in a small southern U.S. town, the story focuses on a group of women who come together after the loss of a friend.
While each of the women has their own struggles and trials through the six scenes split into two acts; despite them, the women grow together, facing and overcoming obstacles while turning an old church into a day spa and never giving up on their dreams.
The approximate two-hour run-time of the production took the viewer on a year-long journey, with many laughs and heart-warming moments along the way.
Directed by Stettler’s Andrea Muhlbach, The Hallelujah Girls ran for four sold-out dinner-theatre performances only, Nov. 8-11.
The cast for the performance included Sara Humphreys, Kimm Anderson, Crystal Friars, Sue Guba, Sheryl Brook, Tana Nixon, Wayne Smith, and Harvey Brook, with producer credits going to Becky Baltimore and Rhonda O’Neill.
Prior to the show was a catered meal by TC Catering, consisting of a variety of salads, potatoes, vegetables, roast beef, and a selection of desserts.
