Rehearsing for the big show – Several first-time actors will be joining the Heartland Arts Troupe for their next show the “Ladies’Day” when the play is staged beginning April 14 at the Stettler Community Hall.

Ladies’ Day hits the spotlight as Heartland Arts Troupe Society presents its spring dinner-theatre production April 14 to 17 at Stettler Community Hall.

“It’s a two-act play about four women who work in a fish plant and get tickets to the prestigious Royal Ascot horse race in York,” said director Glorene Ellis.

“Everyone who is important goes to the Royal Ascot.”

Performers include newcomers Jessica Harvey who plays Linda and Andrea Muhlbach as Shelley.

Completing the female cast are longtime actresses Sue Stratulate as Pearl and Jane Shepherd as Jan.

With a male flavour, newcomer Brian Bennett joins veteran performers Andrew Humphries and Cody Borek as each actor plays two characters.

“It’s a busy time in Stettler, and dinner-theatre by HATS has long been one of entertainment highlights,” said Ellis.

Written by Amanda Whittington, Ladies Day is a big hit for youth and adults.

Work, love and life are one hard slog for the fish-filleting foursome Pearl, Jan, Shelley and Linda. Their luck changes when Linda finds tickets to Ladies’ Day at Royal Ascot in York.

Out go the hairnets and overalls as the girls do themselves up and head for the races.

As the day unfolds, the champagne flows, secrets spill out and their horses keep winning. By the last race, the girls are on course for a life-changing win.

Shows are set to start with a light cuisine on April 14 and 6 p.m. followed by full buffet April 15 to 17 at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are available at Pfeiffer House of Music in Stettler.
