A musical journey 300 years in the making occurred in Coronation on Feb. 15 when the piano duo Piano Heist came to Coronation.
The duo, made up of lifelong friends Nico Rhodes and Patrick Courtin, performed in front of an audience of around 160 people for an evening which included a catered supper on a cool February evening.
As usual, supper was catered by Anne's Country Cooking; supper for the evening consisted of prime rib, horseradish glazed potatoes, red pepper jelly glazed carrots, taco salad, marinated vegetable salad and an assortment of desserts.
Doors opened for the event opened around 5:30 p.m., with supper starting around 6 p.m.
Rhodes and Courtin took to the stage around 7:30 p.m. and performed for nearly two full hours, including a 20-minute intermission.
The pair performed music from some of history's greatest composers, including Bach and Chopin.
While the performance began with early music, it journeyed through time into the modern era having the duo perform recognizable songs such as The Phantom of the Opera and Hockey Night in Canada.
Throughout the performance, Rhodes and Courtin were guided in their musical journey by a representative from "Divine Intervention Management" who would "call" them throughout the performance with instructions as to which music they should perform next.
The final performance of the 2024-25 Coronation performing arts season will be Rum Ragged, a Celtic swing group which will be performing on March 29.
Coronation Performing Arts will also be releasing the 2025-26 lineup at that show.
