'Classic Seger' performs Bashaw

Bob Seger tribute performs in front of full house

The musical styling of Bob Seger filled Bashaw's Majestic Theatre on Aug. 13.

Ontario crooner Darren McLeay, the lead singer for Bob Seger tribute group Classic Seger, was August's Friends of the Majestic monthly concert series performer.

According to show promoter Merv Buchanon of Trend Entertainment, the concert was "as close to a sellout" as possible for the Majestic Theatre, with around 70 in the audience.

As usual, the Friends of the Majestic operated a concession where soda, chips, and a variety of spirits were available for purchase.

McLeay, performing solo, performed two nine-song sets featuring some of Bob Seger's most famous hits including "Sunspot Baby," "Like a Rock," and "Night Moves."

Bob Seger, is an American singer from the Detroit area who was active on the rock music scene from 1961 through 2019, minus a five-year hiatus at the end of the 1990s.

Seger retired from performing after his Travelin' Man tour in 2019, though his music continues through tribute acts such as Classic Seger.

The next performance occurring at Bashaw's Majestic Theatre will be an Eagles tribute band in September.
