Young students learn political process

The junior high students from the Byemoor School and Big Valley School completed a six-week simulated parliament project.

The junior high students from the Byemoor School along with the junior high students from the Big Valley School completed a six-week simulated parliament project. The task incorporated project-based-learning and on May 20 the groups gathered for a final time at the Byemoor School for a mock parliamentary debate. During the process, the students formed three political parties, assumed the role of political leaders and developed five political policies to debate. It was a good learning exercise for the students and nice for them to have the opportunity to develop a hands-on understanding of how politics works.

On Thursday, the students from the Byemoor School traveled to Stettler to meet with the trustees of the Clearview School Division. The students reported on the simulated parliament project they had just completed.

The Byemoor School kindergarten has also been busy. On Tuesday they enjoyed a ride on the steam train at Stettler. It was the year-end trip for the class. On Friday, the kindergarten hosted Grandma's Day when they were joined by many of their grandmas for an entertaining afternoon.
