Once again the Stettler District 4-H Beef Club has had a fun and successful show and sale.

The four clubs that took part were– Erskine, Byemoor, Big Valley, and Big Knife.

Heifer day was on May 23, 2022 in the Stettler Agriplex. Members from all four clubs showed their female projects and we all practiced some heifer judging.

For our club, the Champion yearling heifer went to Luke Henderson, Champion 2-year-old went to Rayell Haustein, Champion 3-year old went to Aryann Haustein, and Champion Herd went to Rayell Haustein.

The steer show was also held at the Stettler Agriplex, but occurred on the 24th of May.

We were judged on conformation (which is the physical qualities of the steer itself), showmanship (which is how you present your steer) and grooming (which is how well you can make your steer look).

Everyone there did a great job and it was a very exciting day.

Congratulations to Grand Champion Faith Shuckburgh who is from the Big Knife club, and reserve Grand Champion Luke Henderson who is from our Erskine Club. Erskine Reserve Club Champion was Chance Morbeck.

Finally, that evening was our live sale.

I’m sure plenty of you were there to watch or bid on animals in the sale.

Thank you to Crystal and The Stettler Auction Mart for helping out so much. We are so lucky to have the community support! Thank you everyone!

On Mon, June 6 we went and toured the new G3 Elevator in Erskine.

We will be doing another Edberg dump clean up on June 11 for our last fundraiser of the year.

We are also having a bottle drive on June 12.

If you have bottles you can call any Erskine member to come pick them up.

For a year-end activity we are having a potluck and awards at Rowledge’s farm.

We have had a great year and are already looking forward to next year, but I’m sure most of us are going to enjoy summer first!
