Wishing everyone a safe and happy Christmas

GADSBY/WESTWOODS NEWS -- Christmas is a time to reconnect with family and friends. A phone call from DeLores Duris reminded me of this. DeLores would like all her friends to know she has moved to Cochrane, Alta. as of Dec. 1 and enjoying her new life there. She and her daughter Barb drove across Canada earlier this year. While DeLores and Julius had travelled Canada before they had missed Newfoundland, so this was her goal. She and Barb spent four days short of a month in Newfoundland in Barb's RV. Then it was on to Nova Scotia for a week before DeLores flew home, leaving Barb and a friend to drive back across Canada.

Velvet Nickerson reconnected with the daughter of a lifetime friend this week. Velvet headed to Blackfalds where she visited with Aimee Wroe (Tobin) who has a craft shop in Blackfalds and a sign out front that reads "It's a Happy Place," taking Velvet back in time to happy times with her friend.

Joyce Hansel and daughter Marylou headed to Gibbons on Sunday where they stayed with daughter/sister Sandy and Rod for a couple of days. On Monday and Tuesday Rod and Sandy drove Joyce into Edmonton for short doctor appointments. On Tuesday MaryLou brought Joyce home and on Wednesday Joyce enjoyed great granddaughter Shaya at her Christmas concert at the PAC in Stettler.

Percy and I took in the Botha School Christmas Concert on Thursday night. We hardly noticed the cold temperatures with the heightened temperature of excitement of the grandkids – Hannah's last concert and Bailey's first concert. This was a well planned and practiced program with songs of Christmas, trivia on Christmas traditions and riddles to make the audience laugh. There was an abundance of food stuff collected for the food bank and a bake sale that followed. And of course, a visit from Santa and candy bags for all the children. Well done Botha.

Get well wishes to Barb Carey who is home recuperating from hip replacement surgery in Medicine Hat. Also glad to hear Velvet is home from Castor Hospital.

I noticed on Facebook, Barb's sister Laurie who lives near Vancouver, experiencing Alberta weather there with over a foot of snow. Lucky for her she was raised in snow country.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Christmas season.
