May was an exciting month at William E. Hay and concluded with the student union elections.

May was an exciting month at William E. Hay and concluded with the student union elections. Congratulations to the new student union executive for the 2012-13 school year: president Shayla Neitz, vice-president Nicola Bennett, social representative Ceanna McArthur and secretary Kennidy Fischer.

Tonight at 7 o’clock, William E. Hay hosts its annual Colour Night Awards Ceremony. Colour Night recognizes success in athletics and citizenship. Congratulations to all students who are being recognized.

As we begin to wrap up the semester, we would like to make a special note of thanks and appreciation to Mr. Moorlag, Mr. Humphreys and Mrs. Goodwin.

Those three teachers have made outstanding contributions to our school and are retiring this year. We bid them farewell and wish them all the best in their retirement.

Wildcat Theatre is presenting Neil Simon’s comedy, Rumors, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The show is at 7:30 each night.

Friday night is a dinner theatre night, with the dinner served by the cast and crew. Dinner guests will be personally escorted to the Performing Arts Centre for preferred seating choices after their meal.

Thanks to Mr. Huo and the food club for making the event happen.

Thanks also go out to Mr. Goodrich and his classes for set construction, and to Ms. Molchanko and the Art 20 class for set painting.

The results of the Tell Them From Me Survey are in. Every semester, students are asked to complete a survey so that we can assess our successes throughout the Pilot Project that we are participating in. The results were very positive and students think highly of their education at William E. Hay.

The Results Release has been mailed home, along with the June report card, so that parents and students can read comments made and administration responses to those comments.

Take note of a few important dates to remember: The Night of the Bands will take place on June 14 and will be a celebration of many pieces performed throughout the year. The last day of classes for Grade 12 students is June 21, while the last day of classes for grades 9 to 11 students is June 22. Exam week takes place from June 25 to 28. There are no classes during exam week.

Students should check the exam schedule for the dates of the exams they are writing. Report card pickup day is June 29, beginning at 1 p.m.
