On Thursday, April 22 Wildcat Theatre students travelled to Ponoka to enter their play into the Zone 4E High School One-Act Play Festival. Dallas Hulkovich directed “The Brute” by Anton Chekhov. The adjudicators sincerely enjoyed the show. Dallas won the award for best technical production (set design, lighting, and sound). Tim Faltin won best actor awardr at the festival, and Amy Nattestad received an honorable mention for acting. Braden Fleischhacker did great in his supporting role in the show, and Matt Tokarchik and Travis Raymond were awesome in the tech booth. Well done everyone. The play will be presented in Stettler, along with two other student-directed one act plays, on May 12. Mark your calendars and please come out and support Wildcat Theatre.

Daylon Brown, the skip of Wm. E. Hay’s girls provincial curling team curled in the Kevin Martin Junior Spiel this past weekend in Edmonton. Daylon took up the challenge of skipping a new team that had just been put together before the weekend.

Mrs. Schlarbaum’s grade 11 and 12 cosmetology students took a field trip to the Academy of Professional Hair Design in Red Deer on Wednesday, April 28. The students toured the school, looked at the various programs that the academy offers and were given mini-manicures and facials. This was a great way to see the possibilities in the cosmetology field beyond high school.

Track and field is starting up. If you are interested in joining the team, sign up with Mr. Younghans or Ms. Campeau.

This is certainly a busy time of year for our Grade 12 students as they prepare for grad, finals and of course, life after high school. Students who are looking at post-secondary institutions next year and would like to know more about scholarships and bursaries to help ease the financial burden should see Mrs. Brown or Mrs. Aspenes as soon as possible.

“Be the Change” team members will be out in the community on Thursday evening cleaning up litter and doing their part to help out in our community.

Stay tuned next week for more news from Wm. E. Hay.
