Well done, girls!

HALKIRK HERALD -- Twelve men's teams and six ladies' teams converged on the local çurling rink to enjoy the annual Halkirk bonspiel.

HALKIRK HERALD -- Twelve men's teams and six ladies' teams converged on the local çurling rink to enjoy the annual Halkirk bonspiel. As the weekend drew to a close, Richie Chapman's team from Stettler won the men's spiel and Jack's team from Byemoor won the ladies'.

Saturday evening, billed as a " save the school fundraiser", saw a large crowd of curlers and community dance to Domino, winners of the 2015 ACAMA group, at the Hall.

Congratulations to our girls jr. high basketball team who brought home the silver medal from CWJAHAA playoffs in Rocky Mountain House on Saturday. They fought a very close battle against the team from Mecca Glen school in the final. Well done!

The Halkirk Seniors' Centre played host to a + 55 military whist tournament last Thursday with 10 teams present.At this tournament, a person has to belong to the +55 group to play.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Lucien Bourque, known as Frenchie, from Busby, who passed away on March 5 at the age of 63 years. He is survived by his wife Marie (Morel), five daughters and 10 grandchildren, his mother in law, Helen Morel, plus a large extended family; service to be held on March 14 at the Catholic Church in Mearns. Jean Morel's great-nephew, Benjamin Gautier, is here from France to represent the French side of the family. Marie's sisters, Jeanette from Chicago and Suzanne and her daughter, Sheila, from Kamloops, have also arrived.

Larry and Sandi Brodersen accompanied by Tom and Kathi (Brodersen) McDougal from Qu'Appelle, Sk. returned last week from a month spent touring the east coast of Australia and visiting with family. They spent time with Tom and Kathi's son, Lee, who is teaching there and with their aunt and uncle, Cecil and Judy Bird in the Sydney area. It was Sandi's first trip to Australia.

The Kent family, Helen Waterston, Geri and Gordon Waterston from Camrose, Dale and Melody met at the home of Dwight and Lina last weekend to celebrate their wedding anniversary.
