Welcoming a very early spring

Byemoor mixed curling bonspiel concluded on the weekend with the team of McCrindles and Kary Lyn Keith taking first place in the A event.

BYEMOOR/ENDIANG NEWS -- The Byemoor mixed curling bonspiel concluded on the weekend with the team of Eldon McCrindle, Tom McCrindle, Garrett McCrindle and Kary Lyn Keith capturing first place in the A event. They won over the Justin Jones rink.

In the B event it was the Warren Jones rink over the Randy Schofer team.

C event winners were the team of Eugene Nixon over the Carolin Schofer rink.

Supper and presentation of awards completed the bonspiel on Saturday evening.

This event wraps up the curling season for the Byemoor Curling Club. Thanks to all the supporters and sponsors for another successful year.

Happy 65th birthday wishes go out to Gary Pearson. He celebrated his milestone birthday on March 13. We hope you enjoy being on the government payroll, Gary.

Jim Wasdal, his brother-in-law Len Armstrong and some friends enjoyed a few days of snowmobiling at Revelstoke, B.C. The snow conditions were excellent.

Endmoor Drop-in Centre’s crib meet on Tuesday evening saw Lawrence Wilkie place first, while Eleanor Schultz came in with the second best score of the evening.

Keep in mind the farm sale for Bossert Farms is coming up on April 9 at the farmyard of Ervin and Thelma Bossert, about 14 miles south of Endiang on highway 855.

Debbie Grams and a long-time girl friend enjoyed a vacation to Palm Springs, California. They enjoyed the very warm temperatures there.

Byemoor School grades 1-9 traveled to Edmonton on Monday for an interesting tour of the Telus World of Science (formerly Edmonton Space Science Centre). They were driven by bus driver Christa Neufeld.

Mark your calendars for the 22nd annual Byemoor Bull-a-rama coming up on April 15 at the Endmoor Arena. Bull busting starts at 7:30 p.m.

Remember Charlie Ewing and the Queen’s Cowboys will be performing at the Endiang Hall on April 16 at 7 p.m.

We extend sympathy to members of the Kelly family on the passing of Chantel Schock on March 9 at the age of 35 years. Chantel was the daughter of Gordon and Cathy (nee Kelly) Schock, granddaughter of Norm Kelly and niece of Debbie (Rod) Grams. Chantel’s funeral was held in Spruce Grove on Saturday.

Sympathy is also extended to Ervin and Thelma Bossert and family on the passing of Thelma’s sister Judi (Clark) Toivanen on March 15. Judi was 60 years old. Her funeral was held on Saturday in Drumheller.

Our thoughts are with all the families in their time of loss.

Our district has experienced a mild winter and an early spring. We spotted crocuses in bloom on the weekend. I don’t remember ever seeing them in bloom in the middle of March before.

Many folks observed and celebrated St. Patrick’s Day on Thursday in various ways. It is said there are two kinds of people, those who are Irish and those who wish they were. In recognition of the Irish celebration we offer these as closing thoughts:
