Wedding marked with night long festivities

The Carbon Rams peewee ball team won the provincial championship for Tier 2 which was held at Rocky Mountain House a few weeks ago. This team played Vauxhall in the last game and won 11-8, giving them the championship. The coach was Kelly Steen, originally from Rumsey and now of Carbon for several years. His son Dane Steen was on the team along with Rumsey boys, Quinton Kopjar, Colten Daniels, Cody Kopjar and Garrett Holowath. This was a great experience and very exciting. Congratulations from all your friends and neighbours.

The Richmond family had a very busy week, which began with a short motor trip for Stan and Sheila. This trip took them many places and ended at Stan’s sisters home in B.C. Maryanne returned home with them as she and Stan went to Jasper on Friday to attend a family funeral. This was for Bill and Marion Richmonds’ son-in-law. When they returned from the funeral, there were trailers in the yard and people all around. It was a surprise birthday party for Stan’s 70th birthday. His birthday was Saturday and celebrations continued into Sunday when more friends and neighbours joined in the fun. Congratulations to Landelle and Bryan Olgetree, who were married in an outdoor ceremony in Rowley on Saturday afternoon, August 1. The sun shone bright and very warm as they exchanged their vows with Becky Kowalchuk doing the ceremony. Festivities continued in the Rumsey community hall when everyone enjoyed a turkey-ham supper. Dancing and fun continued into the wee hours of the new day.
