We are missing the sun

Fog, fog and more fog; seems like that’s all we have been having the past couple of weeks. If all that fog translates into spring rains maybe we should start building an ark now. Certainly would be nice to see the sun again soon.

Crib was held at the Endmoor Drop-In Centre on Tuesday evening with a good turnout; enough players for five tables. Ken Schultz had the best score for the second time in a row, with only three points, followed by Art Wasdal in second with 15. Next crib night is on Feb. 16.

Sympathy from the community is extended to the Campbell family on the passing of Dustin Campbell on Jan. 27 at the age of 21 years, following a battle with cancer. Dustin was the son of Jay Campbell and Della (Marvyn) Harris. His funeral was held in Stettler on Jan. 31. Our thoughts are with all his family in the sad loss of this promising young man.

Congratulations to Bernice Zeimer on the birth of her fifth great-grandchild, Mia Rose Norlie on Jan. 27. Mia is the daughter of Clint and Michelle Norlie of Everett, Washington (Seattle area) and is a little sister for Kailey and Garrett.

The community extends sympathy to Robert and Sheila Buchwitz and family and the McDonald family on the passing of Sheila’s mother Rita McDonald on Feb. 1 at the age of 90 years. Her funeral was held in Hanna on Feb. 4. Mrs. McDonald will always be remembered for her kind and gentle nature. Our thoughts are with the family in the loss of this fine lady.

Congratulations to Crystal Schellenberg and Will Oickle on the birth of their son Jack William on Feb. 3 at the Daysland hospital. Jack weighed 8 lbs. 3 oz. and is welcomed by big sister Dakoda.

Congratulations also to the local grandparents Rod and Lynnette Schellenberg and great-grandmother Anne Schellenberg.

Some local folks took in the performance by the country band Domino as they held their CD release party at the Stettler Performing Arts theatre on Friday evening. Band members include Kent Nixon, Luanne Carl, Russ Carl, Scott McKnight and Chris Scott.

Jim and Maureen Wasdal have their niece Janean Paetkau of Gem staying with them while she attends high school in Hanna.

Several people from our area enjoyed one of the performances of Stage Hanna’s dinner-theatre production, “The Lone Star Love Potion” at the Hanna Community Centre. The production featured the comedic talents of local resident Krissy Jack. Great performance, Krissy!

Wayne and Patsy Gallagher of Tulliby Lake were here on the weekend and took in the Saturday performance of “The Lone Star Love Potion” that daughter Krissy Jack was acting in.

A number of birthdays were celebrated here this past week. Margaret Groat celebrated her 80th birthday on Friday and received many calls, visits and enjoyed lunch out. Congratulations, Margaret, on reaching this special milestone and best wishes for many more.

Bernice Zeimer celebrated her 83rd birthday on Saturday with a family gathering at the home of Bill and Linda Smith. Happy birthday, Bernice and may you celebrate many more.

Several folks attended an open house at the Byemoor hall on Saturday afternoon to celebrate Gordon Yates’ 70th birthday. Congratulations Gordon and here’s wishing you many more happy birthdays.

About 80 members of Buster Walker’s family gathered at the Byemoor hall on Sunday to help Buster celebrate his 83rd birthday with a pot-luck dinner. Happy Birthday Buster and may you enjoy many more happy years.

Carol Stulberg had a family dinner at her home on Sunday to celebrate the February birthdays in her family, those of Les, Tyler and Krystal.

Jim Stimson and Jodi Keith have returned from a five-day stay in San Diego and enjoyed the excellent weather there.

Congratulations to the Endmoor novice hockey team on winning the tournament at Morrin on the weekend.
