Volleyball tournament on Saturday

RUMSEY RECORD -- Spring Fling is on the schedule for this weekend, I hope it is on yours.

RUMSEY RECORD -- Spring Fling is on the schedule for this weekend, I hope it is on yours. Supper will start at 5 p.m. and the live dessert auction will start about 7:30 after supper is done. There will also be a silent auction if you are not brave enough to get caught up in the live bidding. It is Volunteer Week this week, so the Ag Society would like to pass on a big thank you to everyone in the community that have helped throughout all the events that happen at the hall, ball diamonds and curling rink. We have a great community of giving people, so it makes everything happen and the work gets done. Thank you!!

Linda Helmer and family would like to invite everyone to the Rumsey Hall to help celebrate her 70th birthday on Saturday, April 23 from 2 to 5 p.m. No gifts please, just come and enjoy some visiting and cake with Linda and her clan.

The library is hosting its fourth craft night on April 20 at 7 p.m. We have invited in a guest to show us how to restore and paint wood furniture. Laya Montgomery has created some excellent pieces and we would love to figure out how she does this, so if you are curious as well, come and join us on Wednesday and Thursday evening, April 20 and 21 for a couple hours with a small piece of furniture that you would like to experiment on. This will be held at the drop-in to give us enough space to work.

The grad class is putting on a Morrin School Alumni Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, April 30. If you are interested in putting a team in, please contact Amy Adams at 403-436-0096 or Katie Primrose at 403-820-1652. The fee is 10$ a player, you are required to have at least three people who are Morrin School alumni on the team, and you have to have two girls on the court at all times. Concession will be open, and a draw will be up as soon as we have enough teams.

One last thing, I have been approached by some people interested in having a community garage sale again this year. I know it has been a few years now, so maybe it is time to have one if we can get enough people interested. I was thinking that mid-May would be a good time. We found that the last time we had one, we had lots of people come on a Friday night but not that many on Saturday when the bigger centers had lots going on. It might be a good idea to open ours on a Thursday night and Friday night then not on Saturday. If you are interested, contact me at the library and I'll put you down.

And if you are in the mood for spring cleaning, keep this in mind: Cleaning with kids in the house is like brushing your teeth while eating Oreo cookies.

Have a great week.
