Visit us at the trade fair - Literally Yours

It is stated in the Stettler Public Library’s plan of service that the library would strive to provide services and programming for every person in the town and county of Stettler.

An important way in which we are making strides in reaching this goal is through the position of outreach librarian. Michelle, Sarah, and Alexis, our outreach workers, are endeavouring to bring a variety of services and programs to citizens who find it difficult to make it to the Stettler Public Library on a regular basis.

Erskine and Byemoor: our outreach personnel are coming to you. Sarah is bringing a mobile “Something Cool After School” program to the Erskine School Library on Fridays from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. This program is for school aged children and teens and includes stories, crafts and games. Michelle will be visiting the Byemoor day care on the first Monday of each month for an hour of rhymes, stories, games and crafts.

Michelle is making visits to Heart Haven, Willow Creek and Paragon Place and you can check with each lodge for times of the visits. If you have a loved one that is currently in any of the care facilities such as the hospital, auxiliary or nursing home and would like a visit from Michelle, please contact the Library at 403-742-2292 for more information.

Speaking of outreach, the Stettler Trade Fair is coming and the Stettler Public Library is excited to be part of it. This is the time of year for the staff and board members to meet the public outside of the library’s walls and let you know what services the library has to offer. Come to the Trade Fair from Friday, April 15 to Sunday, April 17, wander around and check out the booths, but do not forget to stop by and see us. We are looking forward to seeing you.

Not all programming done by the outreach librarians is done outside of the library. Sarah is the leader for two of our most popular preschool programs, which run on Wednesdays. The highly popular “Read and Rhyme Play Time” is continuing on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Sarah will continue the fun with “Itsy Bitsy Yoga” now at its new day and time: Wednesday afternoons from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. There is still a preschool program on Friday mornings, Read and Rhyme Play Time with Alexis, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

The Friends of the Stettler Public Library has received the dates to work a casino in Red Deer and they are looking for volunteers. Thursday, July 28 and Friday, July 29 are the confirmed dates that the friends will be working at the Cash Casino in Red Deer. This is the friends’ major fundraising endeavour that has helped provide the Stettler Public Library with valuable resources through the years. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Crystal at the Library at 403-742-2292.
