$540! That was how much Stettler residents helped the teen clubs raise for Haiti - $370 of it in just the last two weeks. Members are ecstatic to have surpassed the original goal of $400 and would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who pitched in. As a side note, the HYC welcomes donations of empties year round and the proceeds benefit the kids directly and are much appreciated.

Friday was a busy night at Heartland Bowl with the 19th Annual Lloyd’s Bowl for Kids event in full swing - all the numbers are not in yet, but you really had to be there to see the community spirit, it was amazing. You really would have to have been there for some of the team costumes too, well, maybe you wouldn’t want. But it was all in good fun and everyone seemed to have been having a ball. Thank you to all the teams that participated and we truly hope to see you all back , next time around.

Twelve HYC teen club members headed out on Saturday morning for a fun day at Alliance Ski Hill (possibly an elaborate plan to knock off their leaders, who have not been on a hill in over 10 years).

And, although the first-time snowboarding group was complaining of tender rears on the way home, everyone had a good time from the bunny hill bunnies to the black diamond riders. And although dicey at times, both leaders survived the ordeal and were overheard saying that they would willingly do it again (perhaps they did hit their heads too many times).

Youth center members are spending a little extra special time with their families this Friday at the HYC Family Valentine’s Dinner. The dinner will be put on by all the programs, with each having a hand in the project, from the decorations to the special dessert. Parents are asked to pre-purchase tickets from the staff, with a family of four or more only costing $20.00. More information can be had at 742-5437.

The staff would like to remind you that as Monday, Feb. 15 is Family Day, the youth center will be closed, so get out there and have some fun together.
