Upcoming library school visits - Literally Yours

.

BOBBIE MAPPIN & SEAN HIGGINS

Hey dudes! Hang in there, school is almost done. I know you can taste the sweet freedom of summer!

The Summer Reading Program is starting in less than a month now (July 4) and we are getting excited. Our first school visits to Christ King and Botha School went great and were a lot of fun. Just a reminder that the next school visits will be this week from June 13-17 at the Stettler Middle School, June 15 for the kindergarten classes of Stettler Elementary School, June 20 for the other Stettler Elementary classes, and finally June 27 at Erskine School. We will be handing out the SRP schedule and Reading Buddy forms; and if you lose these you can always find them on the Stettler Public Library website under the “kids” or “teens” link.

You or your parents can still follow our “Stettler Summer Reading Program 2011” page on Facebook to always stay updated on what’s going on. We will also post pictures there of the crafts and activities that we do throughout the summer too. If you want a sneak peek at what activities and theme we will be doing the first week of the program go to this link: http://seanelizabeth.glogster.com/surfweek, you can find this link on our Facebook page as well.

Teens: if you are in a rut or don’t know what to read, follow our blog http://jeunebib.blogspot.com to get some ideas. There are book suggestions for all types of readers. And even if you don’t like to read, these are books that we ACTUALLY like. So give them a try. If you don’t see anything you like on the blog you can come in and talk to us (Sean and Bobbie) and we will help you find a book you will be interested in. Teens who also want to share the books they’ve read to help others start reading can contact us to see how they can start writing on the blog too. We are also going to move the YA section over to the TV/couch/magazine area so we will actually have our own spot to chill out and hang!

Something that is different this year is we will be going to Rochon Sands every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the community hall. We will be doing crafts, games, and reading stories. This is aimed towards families who will be living at the lake this summer, or families who are camping. It is offered this year to give an equal opportunity to participate in the program to all children and youth in our community. If you live in town you do not have to drive out to the lake, but you are more than welcome to come join us.

There has been a great response to our Royal Tea visit and we love the enthusiasm all you ladies and gentlemen have! It will start at 6 p.m. on June 23 at the library. We will be making fascinators, sipping tea, eating crumpets, and playing games. If you would like to RSVP: call, come in, or email us! Since there are many people coming we are in need of more tea cups. If you have any that you would like to donate or lend, contact the Stettler Public Library.
