Two trips planned to Red Deer College to help students make informed choices

On Wednesday, April 28, all of our grade 9 students will be travelling to Red Deer College to attend a junior achievement session called “The Economics of Success”.

On Wednesday, April 28, all of our grade 9 students will be travelling to Red Deer College to attend a junior achievement session called “The Economics of Success”. This full day session will demonstrate the costs of living independently and help students explore the wide range of options available to them after high school.

Deadline for consent forms is April 21.

On Thursday, April 29, all of our grade 11 students will also be travelling to Red Deer College to attend the Career and Trades Expo. This is a large scale fair showcasing numerous careers and trades in a very hands on and interactive way.

The second annual Relay for Life is taking place on June 18 and two Wm. E. Hay teams have been created. One team consists of staff members and the other, members of the Be the Change Team.

Students’ union is organizing a “Bash a Car Event”. The event had to be postponed due to the spring storm last Wednesday but will be rescheduled. Students will be donating varying sums of money to take a whack at an old car in the high school parking lot during TA and at lunch. All proceeds from this event will being going to the Stettler Emergency Relief Fund (S.E.R.F) to support families in financial need in our community.

Student union elections are coming up in May. If you’re interested in joining, please see Ms. Konschuh a.s.a.p and watch for information appearing around the school.

Teacher advisory classes have been busy reviewing information for the 2010-2011 school year registration. Registration forms have been mailed home with teacher recommendations. A reminder that those forms are due on April 22. Report cards were also mailed home on Thursday, April 15.

Don’t forget about parent/teacher interviews on Thursday, April 22 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Stettler Legion Hall.
