Have you ever ordered a particular season of a TV series through the Stettler Public Library only to get disc 3 instead of the start of the season? Well, Parkland Regional Library has come up with a solution to prevent you from being disappointed.

You can find our catalogue at http://spl.prl.ab.ca and then click on the “catalogue” tab at the top of the Stettler Public Library’s home page. Let’s say that you want to look up the television show “NCIS”. Do a title “keyword search” for “NCIS dvd” and it will bring up a list of results. Imagine that you want to watch the first season of NCIS and you see that Camrose Public Library has it but it is divided up. Do not click the “Request Item” at this point, but click on the title and it will take you into the main record of the first season. On the main record page of “NCIS: The First Season” you will get a list at the bottom of the page called “Copy/Holding Information” that says Camrose Public Library has discs 1 and 2 together, 3 and 4 together, and discs 5 and 6 together. If you look a little further to the right under “Copy/Holding Information” you will see two items that say “Request Copy” and “Add Copy to My List”. If you want to order discs 1 and 2, you click on “Request Copy”. This will ensure that you are getting discs 1 and 2, not discs 5 and 6.

You should never have any more problems receiving series dvds in the wrong order. But if what I have just written has confused you, stop into the Stettler Public Library and we will walk you through the steps personally. We will also have a handout that you can take home with you for future reference.

On Thursday, April 8 at 7 p.m., join storyteller and award-winning author Matt Jackson for a slide show about a four-year hitchhiking journey across Canada. During his time on the road, Jackson travelled nearly 30,000 kilometres, shot more than 25,000 photographs and met hundreds of Canadians from every corner of the country. Prepare to laugh at his misadventures and feel inspired as Jackson weaves a refreshing tale that celebrates the diversity that makes Canada what it is today. Matt will be selling his books the night of the presentation.
