The latest from Byemoor-Endiang

News for the week of Mar. 2, 2023

The Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper hosted by the church at Endiang on Feb. 21 at the Endiang Hall was well attended.

All proceeds went to the Byemoor School Library to purchase books with more than $1,000 raised.

It was nice to see many of the school students helping out with serving and clean-up.

The Endiang Community Society graciously donated the use of the hall for the event.

Congratulations to Kristina Jones on winning the Sobey’s gift card donated by the Stettler Learning Centre for completing their survey of course interests for our area. Byemoor – Endiang had the most completed surveys of any of the rural communities.

Doreen, Eugene and Becky Nixon and Betty Campbell returned home on Feb. 22 from an 11-day trip to Las Vegas. They traveled by car down and back. They reported the weather was cooler than normal in Las Vegas this year.

Since nobody won $1 million dollars they will have to return and try their luck again.

The first Sunday Morning Coffee Time was held at the Endiang Community Hall on Feb. 26. It will continue on alternate Sundays at 10 a.m. and all are welcome to come join their neighbours for a visit, coffee and some good things to eat. The next one will be on March 12.

Several local folks enjoyed the Castor Little Theatre production of Things My Mother Taught Me, a comedy that ran at the Castor Community Hall from Feb. 19 – March 4. A group from the Endmoor Drop-In Centre attended on Sun, Feb. 26.

Hockey action at the arena in Byemoor on the weekend saw the Endmoor U9 team host Kneehill on Saturday and Hanna on Sunday.

Keep in mind the County in Your Community Event, a rural hall tour hosted by the County of Stettler, coming to the Byemoor Community Centre on Thu, March 9.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with a supper served at 6:30 p.m. and presentations and discussion to follow.

Join Council and County Administration to discuss projects in the County. Special guests in attendance will be the Stettler RCMP and Stettler FCSS. For catering purposes please RSVP to www.stettlercounty.ca/gather or phone 403-742-4441.

Happy 80th Birthday wishes go out to Jim Bates who celebrated his special day on Feb. 17. Congratulations on this special milestone, Jim and best wishes for many more.

Clay Bunney celebrated his 40th Birthday with a gathering of friends and family at the Byemoor Hotel on Sat, Feb. 25. Welcome to middle age, Clay.

Humour for the Day —

When older people say “Enjoy them while they are young” they are talking about your knees and hips, not your kids.

“My wife says I never listen. I thought that was a weird way to start a conversation.”
