Be sure to treat Mom on her special day with breakfast out at the Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast at the Endiang Community Hall on Sun, May 14. Breakfast will be served from 9 – 11 a.m.

Sponsored by the Endiang Board of Trade, proceeds will go towards purchasing flowers and maintenance for the hamlet of Endiang.

Congratulations to Colin Woelk and Tammy Cooke who were married in a beautiful resort near Cancun, Mexico on May 1. Colin’s family travelling to Mexico for the wedding included his mom Debra Woelk and her companion Rob, his son Devon Woelk and his girlfriend Brooke and his brother and sister-in-law Chad and Kim Woelk. We wish the newlyweds all the best for a long and happy marriage.

Members of the Byemoor 4-H Beef Club, along with help from leaders and parents, participated in Highway Clean-up on Sat, May 6. They chose to clean Highway 589 between Byemoor and Endiang. A big thank you and kudos go to the group on a job well done.

I also noticed Highway Clean-up signs posted on Highway 855 south and Highway 851 south of Highway 589 so other groups were also cleaning those stretches of highway in our area. Hats off to all the groups participating in making our roadways cleaner.

Interment and a fellowship luncheon will be held for long-time former Endiang resident Cliff Donald on Sat, June 3. Cliff passed away on Feb. 6 at the age of 89 years.

Friends and neighbours are invited to join the family at a brief memorial interment that will take place at the Craigmyle Cemetery at 1 p.m. followed by a light lunch at 2 p.m. in the Endiang Community Hall.

Mark your calendars for the annual Scapa Strawberry Tea, to be held at the Scapa Hall on Mon, June 5 at 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Happy 65th Birthday wishes are sent to Bruce Mappin, who celebrated his milestone birthday on May 6. Congratulations on your special birthday and enjoy being on the government payroll, Bruce.

Happy 65th Birthday wishes also go out to Debra Goeson, who marked her special birthday on May 7. Congratulations on your milestone birthday and enjoy those government cheques and senior discounts, Debra.

With the dry conditions and amount of wildfires burning in the province, everyone needs to be extra cautious with fire and remember there is a total fire ban in the County of Stettler. Hopefully, we can get enough rain soon to reduce the fire hazard.

Humour for the Day —

“I tried to start a professional hide-and-seek club, but it didn’t work out. Turns out good players are hard to find.”

“I had an appointment with my psychic for next week but she just called to cancel. She said I won’t be able to make it.”

“After dinner, my wife asked if I could clear the table. I needed a running start but I made it.”
