We have really experienced the full spectrum of the month of September. The Stettler Public Library is getting busier and the requested items are really flowing in. Read and Rhyme is running on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m. and many of the other programming favorites are returning. Look at what’s coming up.

We continue our salute to science by showing the movie that everyone must see: Hidden Figures. Join us on Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. for an absolutely fabulous movie and some great popcorn.

Crystal’s Crochet Club has returned. Join us on Sept. 22 at 1:30 p.m. and learn a new skill using yarn and a hook. There is no project for this particular session, I just want to introduce everyone to the soothing powers of crocheting. Everyone is welcome and if you have started a project, you are more than welcome to bring it with you.

Our Adult Crafting Series continues on Sept. 27 at 6:30 p.m. Come make a burlap wreath that is very versatile for all seasons.

Teen Scene is our newest program for students in Grades 7 to 12. Our next gathering will be on Sept. 28 at 4:30 p.m. when you can get together with your friends and make a spectacular spaghetti dinner. Space is limited so you must pre-register by calling the library at 403-742-2292.

The Stettler Public Library and the Friends of the Library are pleased to present the perfect opportunity to pretty up your Thanksgiving table. On Sept. 29, we are pleased to have Tanille from Vintage Thistle come and help us construct a beautiful autumn flower arrangement. There is a cost to this program: you can make a small arrangement for $20 or a larger one for $30. You must pre-register for this workshop so that we can make sure that there are enough flowers for everyone. Please register by Sept. 27 by calling the library at 403-742-2292.

Are you looking for a book to take on a trip but don’t want to sign out a library book? Come and check out our new ongoing Friends of the Library Book Sale shelf. The rules of our giant book sales still apply: no set price, we just ask for a donation.

Did you know that September is Library Card Sign-up Month? The Stettler Public Library offers more than just books, and cards are free for residents of Stettler and Stettler County! We are the cheapest knowledge and entertainment centre in town! This month libraries across the region are competing to sign up the biggest percentage of new members. Your card might be the one to push Stettler Public Library into the winner’s circle.

If you think that September is chalk full of fun stuff, wait until you see what we have planned for October. Call us at 403-742-2292 for more information on any of the services that we offer. Check out our website at spl.prl.ab.ca and follow us on Facebook.
