Literally Yours
By Stephanie McComb
As summer sadly winds down, so do our summer programs. Small Fries and Agent 009 still have two more fabulous weeks. Summer Spy Society, though, will be wrapping up next week.
The last day for the Summer Spy Society (this year’s teen summer program) will be Aug. 12. For the wind-up, we will be having a bonfire where we will be handing out prizes and eating snacks. Teens will meet at the regular time (6 p.m.) at the library.
As a note, the wind-up parties for Small Fries and Agent 009 will be held the following week. More information will be provided in next week’s article.
Though there are few more days of Agent 009, we still encourage junior agents to keep reading and to continue the search for the library mole. We also ask parents to return completed photo release forms.
The rest of our programs will continue into the fall. Beginning in September, Crystal will be taking over Bedtime Stories. Bedtimes Stories will be extended to each Thursday at 7 p.m. Feel free to come in your PJs with your favourite stuffed animal or blanket.
Teen night (with Shaun) will continue for the whole year. Detail of starts will be made available in future articles.
For a final celebration before school starts, there will be Game Over, an all-night gaming session. Youth ages 10 to 16 will stay up all night, playing Wii, Scrabble, Risk, and other fun games as they chow down on pizza and snacks throughout the night. It will be adult supervised by our head librarian, Deborah, and other staff at the library. Patrons interested will need to bring permission slips, and should be aware that there will be a limited number of spaces available. Though the date is not set, it is likely it will be on Aug. 29 (if not, another time at the end of the month). Keep reading our article for more updates on Game Over, and all other programs as we promise fun will be had by all!
We encourage you all to relish in your final month of summer. As you soak up the sun at the beach, remember to bring your favourite book from the library.
