Summer playground plans to keep Botha youths busy

Another exciting birthday wish is coming due for a very special person in the Botha area, for this Saturday, June 30.

Another exciting birthday wish is coming due for a very special person in the Botha area, for this Saturday, June 30. It’s Cody Morris’ special day.

Come on out the evening of July 3 for another great evening of entertainment. Bring your Bingo dabbers out with you. These are held at the Botha Senior Centre. Everyone is welcome. Early Bird Bingo starts at 7:15 p.m.

Coffee is on every Wednesday at 10 a.m. They would love everyone to join them at the Senior Centre.

With today being the last day of the school year, something new is starting. Botha Summer playground program will be starting Tuesday, July 2. The program will be running on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for part of July and August.

Jamie Wahl will be running this program this year and is very excited about doing it. Jamie has items planned for everyone ages from three to 12.

The general program offers a lot of outdoor activities, and will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon. On the days the weather is not cooperating, the program will be held at the Botha Hall.

Jamie asks all parents to send clothes you can get dirty in and a healthy snack daily with your child. Also, he recommends a hat for your child to wear to keep the sun off of them.

Jamie is also asking parents, on the first day of the program, to send sunscreen and bug spray with their names marked on them. Those items can stay on the site and be returned to you on the last day of the program. Also, please send a water bottle daily with your child.

Children ages six to 12 will be running in the afternoons from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. each Wednesday. They call it Project Afternoons. They will be mainly indoors, doing activities and staying out of the heat.

They plan to do special activities, such as building, painting and erupting their own volcanoes, making hand-sewing projects, creating flying machines, learning to crochet, building humming bird feeders, even making their own Roman Sandals.

And that’s just a few of the activity options. This sounds like a blast for everyone.

All children from both groups are very welcome to stay for lunch. Please inform Jamie on the registration form if your child will be staying, so there will be adequate supervision there for lunch breaks. Also, your child then will need a bag lunch.

If you have any questions about those programs, phone Jamie at 403-742-5986 or email her at gdwidw@xplornet.com.

With summer holidays fast approaching, church services will not be held again until Aug. 9, as Rev. Susan Bowyer enjoys her holidays. Church will restart that Thursday at 7 p.m., and continue at that time until the end of August.

We wish Rev. Bowyer a great holiday with lots of relaxation and memories.

The Village of Botha office will be open and closed throughout the summer months. Closures will be posted on the bulletin board and a message will be on the phone voice mail.

Don’t forget, all land taxes are due by July 31.
