On Thursday, May 28, our elementary students travelled to Castor for a Track Meet between neighbouring schools. Gus Wetter School hosted a six event meet where students competed in grade level groupings. Students participated in high jump, dash, standing broad jump, running broad jump, ball throw and target throw events. Congratulations to Christ King School students Paul Georget, Tom Gustavson, Jay Nichols, Lowell Van Straten, Natalie Dupont, Jack Willms, Joel Gustavson, Autumn Wyness, and Blake Austin who won trophies in their events.

Kindergarten and grade 1 students have been travelling around the town discovering the different amenities available in Stettler. They have visited the Stettler Public Library, and Dairy Queen, and are looking forward to touring the Post Office this Thursday. The Kindergarten class had a special picnic in the park while the rest of the elementary students were at the track meet in Castor.

We held our annual Living Rosary on Friday, May 27. Students and staff formed a human rosary, each taking turns leading the prayers of the Glorious Mysteries. As we prayed the Our Father and Hail Mary prayers, we reflected on the resurrection of Jesus, His ascension into heaven, the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, Mary’s assumption into heaven and the crowning of Mary as queen of all saints.

Upcoming events at Christ King School include a live animal presentation on June 6 and our annual garage sale. Volunteer Janis Deans has graciously offered to present to our students on the afternoon of June 6. We will be having our annual garage sale next week and are accepting donations starting on Wednesday, June 8, 2011. The garage sale will be held at the school on June 10 and 11.
