Who will be the winner? - David O’Donnell and Bailey Strandquist in the final round of our Rock Paper Scissors contest played during the Pennies for Patients campaign at the Christ King School last week.

Over the last two weeks, we have been running a fundraising campaign for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society called Pennies for Patients.

Students (and their parents) must really have wanted to see the teachers on the roof, because not only did they reach their goal, they exceeded it by approximately $300. That means we may have a special visitor to our school to pick up funds. Stay tuned.

The Grade 1 and 2 class raised the most money, bringing in $500 by themselves.

We have been walking across Canada for four weeks now and have travelled 3376.993 km. This means each student at Christ King School has walked an average of 51 km. so far. According to their website, EnCana has given over 10,000 pedometers to over 120 schools throughout Alberta, northeastern B.C. and southwestern Saskatchewan.

Students keep track of how far they walk by using pedometers so they can see their progress as they walk across Canada from Vancouver to St. John’s.

There are many other things going on as we enter the last weeks of the school year. We are preparing to host our track meet on May 26. Grade 3 and 4 are learning about sound and hearing and becoming global citizens. Grade 5 and 6 students have taken inspiration from the drama troupe that visited our school. They are telling the Gospel stories of Jesus’ appearances to His disciples through acting and mime. The junior high class is preparing presentations on healthy living for a panel of judges from the community and the gardening club has been meeting to learn about and plan their community garden plot. We will be joining the parish by attending mass this Friday, May 14. Until next week, we wish you many blessings.
