BIG VALLEY BULLETIN -- As fall rolls in, Big Valley begins a new season of activities. After the summer hiatus, the drop-in centre will once again be hosting its Sunday afternoon crib tournaments beginning on Oct. 2 at 1:30 p.m. Floor curling starts on Oct. 6 and will take place every Thursday at 1 p.m. Stop by for cards on Monday or Friday evenings at 7 p.m. The next meeting and potluck is slated for Thursday, Oct. 20 beginning at 12 noon, and there is a flu clinic scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The much-anticipated first pancake supper of the season will be on Monday, Oct. 24 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Remember, everyone is welcome.

The Annable, Scott, Stuber, Shaw, Ridley, McCrindle, Webster, Jim Paul Sr., Klaus, Berresford and Kastik families wish to thank everyone who came out to take part in their ninth annual Memorial Golf Tournament. Thanks to all the many golfers and volunteers who make this a very enjoyable way to remember loved ones each year. There were 14 people to be remembered this year.

A special thank you to Lorne Parkin, who is always on hand to do the team draws and be the master of ceremonies. Thanks to Ron and Marg Olive-Kilpatrick and Edwin Johnson for the beverage carts and to everyone who loaned their golf carts for the event. Thanks also to all the people who donated prizes, cash, etc. for the tournament. There is usually a prize for everyone.

There were 60 golfers participating this year. The team of John Paul, Wanda Neufeld and Clayton and Carolyn Ness were the winners with a score of 26. This year the profits from the tournament will go to the Big Valley Cemetery Fund, the Big Valley Fire Department and the Big Valley School. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year.

Big Valley School students will be participating in the Terry Fox fun on Wednesday, Sept. 21 beginning at 1 p.m. They will be running up through the Big Valley Golf Course and then back to the school. The students are hoping to reach their fundraising goal of $300 again this year. Why not come on out and cheer them on?

Big Valley School staff and students would like to send a huge thank you to the Memorial Golf Tournament for the very generous and much appreciated donation to the school.
