The students at Mother Teresa School are once again holding a fruit sale fundraiser. They will be selling, oranges, grapefruit and tangelos. Orders are to be in by Jan. 18, please call the school if interested.

The school basketball teams played against Coronation last week. Both had good games.

Another weekend snow storm fell on the area, dumping a lot of snow and plugging the side roads in the towns.

Sympathy goes out to the family of Dale Drever of Salt Spring Island, B.C., who passed away on Dec. 30. Dale is the son of late Jim and Louella Drever and a first cousin to Shirley Brodersen. Mrs. Drever taught for seven years at the Halkirk school, starting with the Grade 3 class back in 1958 and then moving to the Castor School. Louella now makes her home in Calgary.

Dick and Ann Creasy, accompanied by Larry and Lorene Stulberg, recently returned from a week’s holiday at Ocho-Rios in Jamaica enjoying the warmer weather.

Peggy and Terry Vockeroth returned from a trip to Fairbanks, Alaska, visiting with son Scott and his wife Emile and daughter Annika between Christmas and New Year’s.

Melody and Dale Kent attended the Adair Christmas at Rosalind last weekend with 33 relatives able to attend.

The Halkirk Elks gave donations to the following groups, Halkirk Hicks 4-H, Halkirk Hall Board, Halkirk school student council, magic carpet ride program, Castor and District Handy van, Coronation and Consort victim service, Valley Ski Hill and the Circle Square Ranch. Community helping community.

Coming up: Jan. 13- Hall Board Bingo at 7:30; floor curling Tuesday night at the seniors’ center at 7:30.
