Students are back from a relaxing and long spring break and a four day Easter weekend.

Teacher Advisor (TA)classes were in the Easter Spirit this past week. Mrs. Leschert’s TA class painted eggs while Mrs. Shepherd’s class had an Easter egg hunt around the school.

The students’ union (SU) played a prank on the school population on Thursday, April 1 for April Fool’s Day. Believing that the SU had hidden Easter eggs throughout the school, students searched to no avail. The SU redeemed itself by providing chocolates to all Teacher Advisory classes after the Easter egg hunt.

Student services, in collaboration with the students’ union hosted a ‘Speak Out – Student Engagement Forum’ on November 29. Thirty students were nominated by their Teacher Advisory classes to provide their opinions of education in Alberta and at Wm. E. Hay. On March 30, the second Speak Out Student Engagement Forum was hosted at Wm. E. Hay. If you would like more information about Speak Out, check out the website at www.speakout.alberta.ca.

The knowledge and employability English class, who are in the midst of a survival literature unit made ziploc bag bannock bread with the help of the shop teachers. It was a delicious way to test their wilderness skills.

Mrs. Leschert’s Grade 9 language arts class is in the middle of a “Shakespearean Festival”. Each student has a part from one of the famous Shakespearean play and they are busy practicing for their performances this week.
